by admin on June 16, 2009

Out of all the courses and seminars I have taught, one of the most popular problems in the mold and mildew in the Attic and basement.

First this is a problem simply because of the humidity levels. It usually is very warm and moist and this is a spawning ground for black mold. Below are some tips to get your humidity levels up to par and also some tips that you should be aware of if you think you may have mold. Obviously their is tons of other stuff, but this is a nuts and bolt kind of article, if you want more always feel free to ask me on my free mold removal advice blog.

To Prevent Humidity In Your Attic and Basement

Air Flow – You will need air flow in the attic or basement. For attics you sometimes will have air flow from the edges of the roof. If you are in a basement you will need some sort of air conditioning system. Not an expensive one, just something that can circulate the air and keep temperature at a normal rate. Too hot or too cold will either creating condensation which will spurt your black mold spores.

Dispose Any Wet Materials – Alot of times walking into a attic or basement, you will find wet soggy stuff laying around. This happens becuase somewhere or another you had a temperature mix-up. It was either to cold or to hot and their was condensation present. It also could be you have a leak. Then be sure to listen to my mold inspection course, because all you need to know is in there. In summary though, you will want to look around the exteriors of your basement or attic. Also, if you have a furnace or A/C then this should be a prime location as well.
